These terms govern your use of plinthstudiostore.com and any order you place with us. Please read them. By placing an order you accept them.
Who we are. Plinth Studio is a trading name of HOMART LIMITED, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 15257354, registered office 30 Uphall Road, Ilford, England, IG1 2JF. Contact: support@homartuk.com, 07868 375682.
1. The contract
Your order is an offer. A contract exists when we send you an email confirming despatch, or — for made-to-measure work — when we acknowledge your order in writing. The order confirmation email that follows checkout is an acknowledgement that we have received your order, not acceptance of it. We may decline an order, and if we do we refund you in full and tell you why.
2. Prices and errors
Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable. Delivery is charged separately and shown at checkout. We take care with pricing, but if an item is listed at an obviously wrong price we are not obliged to supply it at that price; we will contact you, and you may confirm at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
3. Product information, dimensions and load figures
Dimensions are nominal and subject to the tolerances published on Made to Measure — generally ±2mm, tighter on glass and matched sets. Photographs are illustrative; colour reproduction varies between screens and a sprayed sample is the only reliable match.
Stated load figures are static, centred loads on a level floor. They are not a structural calculation for your situation and they make no allowance for impact, an off-centre load, a visitor leaning on an edge, or a floor that is not level. Where public safety depends on a load or on stability, the responsibility for satisfying yourself is yours, and we recommend a qualified professional. We will always discuss a specific case if you ask.
4. Conservation and display advice
Our guides — including Specifying a Display Case and Choosing a Plinth Height — are general information written in good faith and referenced to published sources. They are not a conservation assessment of your object, your building or your lighting. We accept no liability for damage to, or deterioration of, any object placed in or on our products. Where an object is significant, irreplaceable or held in trust, take advice from an accredited conservator.
5. Installation, fixing and electrical work
Unless we have quoted for installation in writing, fixing and installation are yours. In particular: wall-mounted systems and wall-fixed cases must be fixed to a substrate capable of carrying the load, using fixings appropriate to that substrate; we supply fixings for common substrates only, and the choice of fixing for your wall is a decision for whoever installs it. We are not electricians. Any electrical connection to a case, display or lighting must be carried out by a competent person in accordance with BS 7671 and the applicable Building Regulations.
6. Made-to-measure orders
Made-to-measure work is manufactured to the dimensions and specification you supply. Please check them. Changes are free until the date we tell you we are cutting; after that, changes are a new order. Made-to-measure goods are exempt from the 14-day cancellation right — see Returns & Refunds. Payment is 50% on order and the balance before despatch.
7. Cancellation and returns
Your rights are set out in full on Returns & Refunds, which forms part of these terms.
8. Delivery and risk
Delivery terms are on Delivery, which forms part of these terms. Risk passes to you on delivery. Title passes when we have received payment in full. Delivery dates are estimates given in good faith; we are not liable for delay caused by events outside our reasonable control, but if a delay is material you may cancel and be refunded.
9. Glass, acrylic and inspection
Glazed items must be inspected within 48 hours of delivery and any transit damage reported within 7 days. Protective film on acrylic should remain in place until the item is in position. Acrylic must be cleaned with water and a soft cloth only; solvent, alcohol and ammonia-based cleaners will craze it and damage so caused is not a fault.
10. Guarantee
We guarantee our own manufacture against defects in materials and workmanship for two years from delivery, in addition to and without affecting your statutory rights. The guarantee does not cover fair wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse, overloading beyond a stated figure, incorrect installation, or modification.
11. Trade and business customers
Where you buy in the course of a business, the consumer cancellation right does not apply and our liability is as set out in clause 13. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Trade account terms, where granted in writing, prevail over any inconsistent term here.
12. Intellectual property
All content on this site — text, photography, guides and product descriptions — belongs to HOMART LIMITED or is used with permission. You may not reproduce it commercially without our written consent. Where you supply us with drawings or specifications, they remain yours, and you confirm you have the right to give them to us.
13. Our liability
We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for breach of the terms implied by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that: we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of an exhibition or event, loss of or damage to any object displayed, or any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability in connection with an order is limited to the price paid for that order.
14. Data protection
We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your own courts. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stands.
16. Changes
We may amend these terms. The version in force is the one published on this page at the time you place your order.
